Valse no. 1 has the honor of being premiered by beloved world-class talented guitarist Thu Le. As the name suggests, it is the first concert Valse among my compositions.
Written in Spring-Summer 2021, the atmosphere that Valse no. 1 was born was very special. That was then the long-dark winter had just gone to allow flowers blooming in fresh brisky air of Spring. And the sunlight of Summer 2021 also contributed to the music of the Valse. I once was thinking to name the valse “Un vals romántico” and maybe just “Vals romantico”. But Valse no. 1 is really more than just being romantic. It is hopeful, romantic, sorrow, and nostalgic, all at the same. It contains in itself a complex pallette of emotions that will unfold accordingly to personal feeling while listening.
In this edition, I introduce extensive use of artificial harmonics when the main theme is repeated. It really creates a nice atmosphere.
